Rainbow Learning Environments

Rainbow Child Care Centre provides care for 39 preschool aged children per day, across two rooms. Each room is sectioned into different learning areas including a home corner, book corner, building and construction area. Each room has their own tables for meals and table activities, and access to a shared bathroom from each room as well as outdoors. Each room also has large windows for natural ventilation and light meaning we are less likely to have germs circulating in the centre.

Our yard is shared by both rooms, and room routines allow for one class out at a time. This area is also used as a learning space, with obstacle courses, ball games, sandpit and other sensory play, as well as big group games such as ‘duck duck goose’ and ‘what’s the time, Mr Wolf?’.

If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to test, share their feelings, and grow.

Possum Room
(3-4 years)

Starting the rainbow adventure

Our Possum room is where the Rainbow adventure begins for the majority of our Rainbow recruits. This is where we focus on building strong and lasting relationships with both the child and the family, as we believe that a child cannot confidently engage in learning until they are comfortable.

During their time in the Possum room, children will begin to recognise their names, take care of their belongings, build and maintain friendships, practice social skills, engage with group activities and be encouraged to be curious and explore their environment confidently.

Wombat Room
(4-5 years)

The year before school

Our Wombat room focuses on practicing the skills needed to THRIVE in a school classroom and beyond. We provide loads of opportunities to strengthen fine motor control and scissor skills, problem solving, negotiating and understanding fairness, recognising and regulating emotions, letter and number awareness, social skills and many more. Our main priority is to ensure the children maintain their natural curiosity and interest in learning.

Outdoors

Our newly re-vamped yard is the perfect place to connect with nature, practice gross motor skills, assess and take risks, and have fun!
